TRAINING PROGRAMS

Agriculture has a strong significance for Palestinian identity due to its affiliation to land, cultural heritage and social life. Farming families have been a part of Palestinian life for thousands of years. They not only provide communities with food and jobs, they are a source of pride and self-sufficiency. In order to support this sector Core is engaged in developing and promoting ecological and organic farming in Palestine.Through our strong partnerships with local and international organizations, we have introduced many training programs and workshops that support our main projects, and  provide farmers with valuable experience in organic farming practices.

 

TITLE and ACRONYM PROJECT:

Olive Pruning workshop

 

THEMATIC AREA:

Theoretical and practical training on olive pruning.

OVERALL OBJECTIVE:

  • Train farmers on olive pruning (initial, annual and renewal pruning).
  • Increase the awareness of olive pests and diseases.

 

MAIN RESULTS:

  1. A better understanding of the proper ways to prune olive trees. How to solve and cure the diseases of the tree through the right pruning practices.
  2. The leader farmers has been enabled to transfer the knowledge gained to their fellow farmers about the theories and practices that have been learnt.

 

CORE ACTIVITIES:

1. Field visits to some olive farms to learn about Palestinian agriculture practices.

2. Theoretical lecture about olive pruning.

3. Practical training on annual olive pruning

4. Lecture on olive pests and diseases in relation to pruning.
