     Soil Fertility

  • Test and evaluate crop rotation species (mixes and sequences).
  • Evaluate indigenous legumes as potential cover crop/green manure.
  • Compost (composting process & compost use and impact).

 

     Management of Plants, Pests, Weeds, Insects and
     Diseases

  • Studying biology and ecology of important diseases (almond seed wasp, peacock eye,   
    olive fruit fly and capnodis.
  • Develop systems to provide healthy seed links for transplanting  .
  • Collect and evaluate traditional heirloom verities of local vegetables and grains for
    disease and pest resistant and other desirable traits.

 

      Organic Crop Breeding 

  • Develop seed bank to preserve ingenious germ-plasm.
  • Work with older heirloom varieties
  • To identify useful traits and to preserve diversity.

 

      Socio - Economic Studies

  • Data collection system.
  • Impact perception of organic farming on local community.
