“The beauty of the land of Palestine stems from its rich, fertile, and diverse agriculture, and this has been for thousands of years, a social culture of farming that creatively lived with the land producing the best treasures out of the soil. Palestinian farmers lived in harmony with this ecosystem for thousands of years and continue to honor these traditions to this day” Founder, Nasser Abufarha.
CORE ORGANIC MODEL FARM
CORE has an Organic Model Farm in Al-Zababdeh village near Jenin in the northern West Bank. We are setting up short and long term plans for development of a sustainable organic agricultural model.
The farm is 6 hectares (60 dunams, about 15 acres) and is a collective farm with 8 farmer members who work the farm, receiving pay and a share in the profit. The farm is in partnership with the Holy Land Agricultural Cooperative Association of about 40 farmers in Zababdeh.
Short term plans include introducing animal husbandry to the farm - a small sheep here, chickens, honey bees - to make it a complete model organic farm. Animals will make a biodiverse, environmentally balanced farm, and their production can be sold to make the farm self-sustaining.
In addition to the local farmers, the farm itself will be a place for students to train, and graduate school interns to work and research.
